Objective:  Our primary goal was to create a visually appealing and conceptually relevant book cover that would attract potential readers and convey the essence of the novel's adventurous storyline. Additionally, we needed to ensure that the print version retained the visual impact while adhering to printing guidelines and that the ePub version provided a seamless reading experience on various e-reading devices.
Design Process:  Initial Briefing and Concept Development:
We started by collaborating closely with the author to understand the novel's key themes, characters, and settings. After discussing the storyline and characters, we narrowed down several concepts for the book cover. The chosen concept aimed to depict a group of fierce Libyan Amazons on an epic journey with vibrant colors and an enticing atmosphere.
Book Cover Design:  With the concept finalized, our design team created multiple iterations of the book cover using digital illustration software. The cover featured a group of armored Amazons on horseback, charging forward against the backdrop of distant continents. We used bold typography for the title and author's name to ensure readability and added subtle textures to enhance the overall visual appeal.
Color Scheme and Imagery:  Considering the book's adventurous nature and ancient setting, we opted for a rich and dynamic color scheme that included deep blues, fiery oranges, and earthy tones. The illustrations were carefully crafted to evoke a sense of excitement and intrigue.
Print Preparation:  To ensure the book cover's compatibility with the printing process, we converted the design to a high-resolution format (300 DPI) and adjusted the color profile for print. We also collaborated with the printing press to select the appropriate paper type and cover finish, ensuring a high-quality printed product.
ePub Publication: For the reflowable ePub version, we adapted the book cover design to fit the digital dimensions and resolution required for e-reading devices. Maintaining visual impact and legibility while accounting for different screen sizes was crucial.
Interior Map Illustrations:  Research and illustration of historical maps for a book centered around the fascinating topic of the Libyan Amazons and their conquest of continents. The goal is to provide readers with visually appealing and informative maps that accurately depict the historical context and the geographical scope of the Libyan Amazons' expeditions.
Data Collection:  Collecting relevant data for the maps involves gathering information on ancient civilizations, geographical features, trade routes, and conquered territories. The meticulous process of selecting and organizing geographic data points was crucial for the map's accuracy.
Map Design:  Creating visually captivating and informative maps is a significant aspect of this case study. It explores different map design techniques, such as cartographic elements, color schemes, and labeling conventions, to effectively communicate historical information.
Historical Accuracy:  Ensuring historical accuracy is paramount when creating maps for a book on such a captivating subject. Cross-referencing multiple sources, maintaining scholarly integrity during the map creation process, and the challenges of dealing with gaps in historical knowledge and the need for informed speculation when necessary.
